Specialists in water transport - 'taking the load off the road'

News Roundup February 2017

In January a number of our barges, including two hiab barges, were engaged by JJF Ltd to work on the resurfacing of the towpath along the Paddington Arm as part of a towpath upgrade project.

In February one our Leeds & Liverpool motor barges 'Clitheroe' fitted with a 6 tonne hiab, started work on a cabling project for JSM. Together with our tugs and smaller barges a new optic fibre cable is being laid from Slough to Hanwell.

In July 2016 we supplied four of our 20m by 3.8m dumb barges to Volker Fitzpatrick to create a working platform. This floating platform was used to assist with the removal of the old railway bridge below Tottenham Lock on the River Lee and the installation of a new bridge which is part of the ARC programme for the East Coast Mainline electrification.

During 2016 our crane barges have been busy working for CRT on various lock gate replacement projects on the Kennet &Avon Canal and the Bridgewater & Taunton Canal.

The photo below shows our split pontoon 'Priory' with a 30 tonne hiab crane set up in Standards Lock on the Bridgewater & Taunton Canal ready to unload lock gates and equipment onto the lock side before the lock was drained down ready to replace the gates.
