Waste by Water - Construction Waste from Allenbuild’s site on the Harrow Road, west London

  January 2009

After successfully removing excavated material from Allenbuild’s development site on the Harrow Road during 2008 WHH are now supplying a 40 cubic metre barge to take construction waste from the construction site to Powerday’s recycling facility at Old Oak Wharf, Willesden.

The barge is moored alongside the building site at Harrow Road and construction waste is loaded directly into the barge from the site. This avoids the need to have waste skips on site and reduces the amount of site traffic on the busy Harrow Road.

Periodically a tug is despatched to take the loaded barge away to Powerday’s where the waste materials are transferred from the barge and disposed of via Powerday’s recycling and recovery facility. There is no need to segregate waste on site as this is done automatically at Powerday’s “state of the art” recycling and recovery facility.

Once the barge is empty the tug returns the empty barge to Allenbuild’s site on the Harrow Road ready for more construction waste to be loaded into the barge.
