Greenford Towpath, Paddington Arm 25th June 2010

From the middle of May to the end of June our 60 tonne motor barge “Clitheroe” has been engaged on towpath improvement works for a British Waterways contractor in the Greenford area of the Paddington Arm.

To enable the towpath contractor to take advantage of a lower price for using bulk aggregate, rather than having material in 1 tonne bags, two aggregate storage bins were installed in Clitheroe’s hold together with the addition of a clam shell bucket onto the hiab.

The clam shell bucket allows the barge skipper to assist with loading material into the barge and keeping the barge trimmed for operation and also to unload the material directly onto the towpath for the contractor’s operatives to lay the new towpath surface.
