Olympics Ferry Landing Stage at Tottenham, June 2012

As part of the Olympics Ferry Service operated by Water Chariots a new Ferry Landing Stage was established at Tottenham in June. A contractor working on behalf of the new Canal & Rivers Trust and the ODA created this new landing stage just below Tottenham Lock. As part of these works WHH Ltd supplied a 60 tonne capacity hopper barge together with a Bantam Pusher Tug “Scouser”.

A small wharf just above Tottenham Lock at Tottenham Hale was used to tranship materials from road to water and vice versa. Excavated material from the landing stage site was loaded into the hopper barge and pushed through Tottenham lock using the pusher tug to the wharf where it was unloaded into lorries for onward disposal via road.

Aggregates used to make the new landing stage were delivered by lorry to the wharf at Tottenham Hale, transferred to the barge and then delivered to site by the pusher tug. This was one of the last jobs completed on the River Lee before the Games start in July.
